Connecting a Domain to Your Hosting Print

Whether your domain is registered with Vumacloud or another registrar, you need to point it to your hosting by either changing nameservers or updating your DNS A record.

Option A — Change nameservers (recommended)

This lets Vumacloud manage all DNS for your domain.

  1. Log in to wherever your domain is registered.
  2. Find the Nameservers or DNS settings for your domain.
  3. Replace existing nameservers with Vumacloud's nameservers. You can find these in the client portal under Services → your service → Nameservers.
  4. Save. DNS propagation typically takes 1–24 hours.

Option B — Point A record only

Use this if you want to keep DNS management at your current registrar.

  1. Find your hosting server's IP address in the portal under Services → your service → IP Address.
  2. At your domain registrar, add or update an A record for @ (root domain) pointing to that IP.
  3. Also add an A record for www pointing to the same IP.
  4. Save and wait for propagation (up to 48 hours).

You can check DNS propagation progress at whatsmydns.net.
